1. 40g paraformaldehyde per litre.
2. Add ≈800 ml PBS, heat and stir until clear.
3. 600 µl 1M NaOH added as the mixture is stirred, until it becomes clear. DO NOT ALLOW IT TO BOIL
4. After it clarifies, filter the PFA mixture through a Whatman filter paper into a 1 L graduated cylinder. (Use each filter paper for max 2 litres)
5. Make up to 1 L with PBS.
6. When the mixture has cooled, adjust pH to 7.4.
